Time once again to review our industry news in sketches!
This past month, there was a lot happening in the gaming world. Notably, Grand Theft Auto 5 was launched with great fanfare and set a new record in gaming by hitting the $1 billion mark in only three days. In other news, Hiroshi Yamauchi passed away at age 85. You may not recognize the name, but he was the Steve Jobs of the gaming world. That is, he led Nintendo for more than 50 years.
On a more local level, we learned that the Montreal metro will have a wireless network by 2017, giving you even more surfing time as you travel to work. If you need some distraction between metro stops, you should check out the New York Times’ experiments in reporting. They recently released a four-part documentary that’s accessible via tablet and that was specifically designed for touch screens. I also suggest that you check out Hollywood and Vines, a movie produced by Airbnb. This is the first movie made entirely from Vines videos, requiring more than 100 clips of six seconds made by users around the world.
Lastly, I’m throwing out a challenge! Do you know where the small, pixelated dinosaur in my sketch comes from? Share your answer on Twitter by tweeting @TP1 and using the hashtag #CarnetDeNotes.
Happy reading!
