FedEx dethroned by… Waffle House?
Waffle House has become a direct and unlikely competitor to FexEx and UPS. In fact, the diner-style American chain of restaurants has partnered with Roadie, a U.S. start-up described as the “Uber for package delivery”. With 1,750 restaurants, open 24 hours a day, from coast to coast, Waffle House will become the official meeting place to hand off deliveries.

Follow Everlane’s example
For U.S. retailers, Thanksgiving means the start of euphoric holiday sales. For Everlane, a San Francisco clothing brand, it’s when they launched their first annual Black Friday Fund, in which 35% of the day’s revenues were invested in improving the lives of workers in their Chinese silk factory. The brand raised $113,928, which will be used to “green” the worker’s recreational area and install a basketball court. Learn more about what else this anti-greed company is doing.

The virtual has intruded on reality with this initiative from TBWA Helsinki: the agency created physical cookies (in the form of a keychain) that can track the shopping habits of users in real-time and consequently offer them more relative promotions.

Why women are leaving tech
Why are women abandoning the tech industry in droves? Journalist Tracey Lien has identified a number of reasons, including a hostile male culture (women are outnumbered four to one), the constant feeling of having to prove themselves and having less advancement opportunities than male counterparts. This article is part of a wave of commentary following actress Patricia Arquette’s speech about male/female equality during the 2015 Oscars ceremony.
