Each week, we share the top five articles that caught our attention. Here are your must-reads, published here and abroad, for the week of March 27th 2017.

Millennials living la vie en rose
You’ve seen it in Hotline Bling. There’s iPhone Rose Gold and the visuals for trendy new brands THINX and Glossier. Rose Quartz was even Pantone’s 2016 colour of the year. Whatever the others want to call it, Millennial Pink, which includes a range of shades from beige with a touch of blush to a peach-salmon hybrid, has been outlasting all expectations since it first appeared in 2012. Why is this colour still trending? And why do Millennials love it so much?

Design lessons from our cats
Cats are natural problem solvers. Curious, lazy and headstrong, they can deftly adapt to new environments—there is no space that’s too big or too small. Thryn Shapira, a senior interaction designer at Google, thinks that when it comes to design thinking, we can learn a lot from cats. After years of research and careful observation, Shapira has defined a few key methodologies we can apply to human problem solving.

Al Lucca, a product designer at Viacom, answers this pressing question: if content is king, why bother with design?

When you work for a vastly male-dominated industry, sexual discrimination or sexist behaviour is inevitable. How delightful then, that Susan Wojcicki, YouTube CEO, has a solution to the problem!

In your earbuds: a16z
The venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a.k.a. 16z) produces a podcast series that reflects on the tech world, cultural trends, current events and the future. Each episode features an industry expert, renowned business leader or avant-garde thinker—and there’s more than one new episode every week!

This week’s favourite thing
You probably already know filmmaker David Lynch from his hit TV series Twin Peaks and his controversial movie of the same name. If you’re a fan of his eccentric and bizarre style, you will not be disappointed by his (equally troubling) TV commercials.
