Herman Miller, graphic design and the company picnic
In 1970, Herman Miller hired Steve Frykholm as the company’s first graphic designer. His first assignment was to design a poster for the company’s annual picnic. At the time, he had no idea that his design for that poster (and all subsequent ones) would be featured in an exhibition at New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Meet Herman Miller’s poster boy!
